Our vineyards in New Zealand boast more than just Sauvignon Blanc; they also include some of the country’s most pristine and sought-after sites in Gimblett Gravels and our flagship Rifleman’s Vineyard. New Zealand’s distinct terroir, marked by a unique blend of climate, soil, and topography, imparts a singular character to our wines. The Rifleman’s Vineyard stands as a prime example of winemaking excellence, celebrated for its outstanding terroir and dedication to crafting world-class wines. 100% planted in Chardonnay the vineyard overlooks the Whitecliffs of the Tutaekuri river in Hawkes Bay. The soil is a mixture of 10,000 year old volcanic ash and deep red metals overlaying limestone, producing extremely concentrated fruit flavours. Rifleman’s includes five hectares of one of the few heritage blocks in New Zealand, planted in 34 year old Mendoza vines that produce the iconic Riflemans Chardonnay — one of the country’s most acclaimed and sought after Chardonnays. we might be landlocked, but we will harvest these grapes. Named after the native Rifleman bird, the vineyard symbolizes the land’s rich biodiversity and highlights our commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices, ensuring both the vineyard’s prosperity and the preservation of the natural environment for generations to come.
